Playing is the freedom not to do what you have to do. And not necessarily to be able to do what you do. You don’t know how it will end. Or what purpose it serves.

You can start over at any time. Or just leave it alone. Every opponent is always also an ally. And those who play for the sake of playing meet their counterparts on equal terms. In their new production – developed together with members of the inclusive Hamburg ensemble Meine Damen und Herren – the mixed-age collective SKART & Masters of the Universe explores the phenomenon of play. Renowned for their impressively vivid theatre evenings with spine-tingling moments and the potential for surprise, the artists continue to expand their performative strategies: Every evening, the performers elicit experimental forms of communication and collective interaction from a wide variety of play arrangements. In constantly changing scenarios, play transcends itself and becomes an artistic proposal for interaction in a society that has largely abandoned dialogue with one another.
