The idea of a standardised national language is absurd in a world where 7000 languages are used across 195 states. Analy Nágila speaks German with an accent and refuses to conform to standard pronunciation. Instead, her performance uses Portuguese, German (with an accent), sign language and her own body to develop a permeable language.

Inspired by Clarice Lispector’s Close to the Wild Heart, she merges characters from the novel and personal experiences. In combination with live music by two South American musicians, the hybridization of the three languages will also be experienced in the music.

Clarice: Das Andere Sprechen meanders between languages without hierarchy. This break with language norms and hierarchies aims to speak in a way that represents minority voices. Accents are not seen as a deficiencies, but as a sign of multilingualism and cultural richness. The performance invites the audience to celebrate the diversity of languages and to experience the artistic power of hybridity.
