The hall is ready, the guests are asked to take their seats – only the hosts are still missing. They are stuck in enchanted rooms. The ladies and gentlemen are trapped in a party trap, have lost their magical powers as magicians, call for help as princesses, drift through the sea as mermaids or fight as activists to save the world. Once everyone has been freed from their rooms, the ball can begin. Who is ready to dance? THE BALL is both an ending and a new beginning: over the last four years and productions, the artists of the inclusive Hamburg ensemble Meine Damen und Herren have gradually moved away from their previous working methods as an ensemble with changing guest directors and set out on the path to becoming a collective. They are experimentally exploring the possibilities and opportunities of equal working practices (also) in structural power imbalances, developing remarkable artistic tools and new aesthetics in the process.
