Welcome to the paradise of plastic! To the oasis of foam! To the fine-grained beach of microplastics! Two performers invite you to explore the finiteness of human life and the immortality of plastic.

Maria Isabel Hagen and Konstantin Bessonov trace the history of plastic in a lecture performance. They contrast human mortality with plastic, a material that is not biodegradable in nature. Using synthetic sounds and noises generated live on plastic parts, sound artist Konstantin Bessonov weaves the crunching of plastic and the sound of the sea into a reciprocal concert. This creates two levels of reflection on one’s own transience, the power of nature, the infinity of artificial materials and one’s own existence between these two poles.

Jörn Plaß complements and enriches the performance with air sculptures made from plastic bags, which have become synonymous with all that is evil.

Virginia Woolf’s novel ‘The Waves’ provided the inspiration for an atmospheric exploration of finite and infinite existence.
